G’day G’day,
When a couple of work girlfriends invited me to the central market for brunch this morning I of course couldn’t refuse…the sights and smells of this Adelaide institution are a foodie’s delight and I think possibly one of the most taken for granted localities in this southern city…
…unfortunately I forgot my camera on this expedition so i’m using a couple of lovely images taken from the food blog A Table for Two which features a great review of the market and one of the market tours available…but not to fear I do have a couple of piccies of the lovely goodies I came home with…
…the first point of call for the day was The Big Table, a small cafe stall on the Gouger St end of the market…this place is austere in appearance and is short of tables but a wait for a coveted spot wont disappoint – the choice for the morning was poached eggs with a side of bacon on fat toast…yum, always so simple but something so many get wrong.
The tasty start to the day was followed by a good peruse of the produce, today proving to be a particularly good day for picking up good value goodies (some say they save money shopping at the market but I haven’t been convinced…probably because i’m always tempted by the artisan breads, cakes and divine cheeses :-))…

Smelly Cheese (yes some cheeses do smell but in this instance this is the name of the shop ;-)) (Photo taken from A Table for Two)
…a 1/2 kilo of swiss brown mushies set me back just over $4, 2 capsicums and 2 zucchinis 90c, a bunch of spring onions $1 and 2 late season basil plants $3 for the 2…
…the best purchase of the day, however, was a couple of lovely lemon curd tarts from Dough…
…the worst part was coming home to share them ;-)…we’ll keep it a secret that i’d already devoured a Haighs chocolate vanilla fudge slice…
…on return home my delectable day was completed with the delivery of our new couch – our new living space is slowly coming together nicely :-), piccies to come…
Please enjoy the rest of the weekend peoples, I hope it is bright and sunny wherever you are.
Danielle xo
PS Unfortunately no ruffles were harmed in the making of this post; however, leather boots and a silk neck scarf were and are seeking ruffles for next adventure…
Linking this Saturday stroll to Sarah’s BC love Saturday’s Club…
